Dominion Peoples Provides Environmental Grant
to Armstrong County Conservancy Group
PITTSBURGH – Dominion Peoples has awarded a $25,000
grant to the Armstrong County Conservancy. With the grant, the Conservancy group
is developing a river clean-up project, which includes restorations to the Plum
Creek Watershed along the riverfront.
The mission of the Armstrong County Conservancy is to preserve
and maintain open space and natural areas within Armstrong County and neighboring
counties.
A news conference with the Conservancy was held on January
25, 2001 along the Plum Creek riverfront, with a number of local government
officials in attendance including the Armstrong County Board of Commissioners,
the Board of Directors for Armstrong County Conservancy Trust, and the Armstrong
Conservation District Board and staff.
