New Dominion Power Station in Falls Township, Pa., Available for Summertime Demand
RICHMOND, Va. - Dominion Generation, a unit of
Dominion (NYSE: D), announced Wednesday that both units at the company’s
new 1,180-megawatt generation station in Falls Township, Pa., are in commercial
operation.
Fairless Energy LLC consists of two natural gas-fired,
combined-cycle units, each capable of generating 590 megawatts. Currently, 42
percent of the electrical output is sold via bilateral contracts with the remainder
to be sold into the PJM Interconnection LLC wholesale market. Dominion accepted
the power station on June 28.
Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers
of energy, with an energy portfolio of more than 24,000 megawatts of generation,
6.4 trillion cubic feet equivalent of proved natural gas reserves and 7,900
miles of natural gas transmission pipeline. Dominion also operates the nation's
largest underground natural gas storage system with more than 960 billion cubic
feet of storage capacity and serves 5.3 million retail energy customers in nine
